Stars of the classic series and current Hollywood luminaries turned out for a special event in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Alan Alda and Mike Farrell reunited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic series M*A*S*H at an event in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The event, hosted by 20th Century Fox Television, featured a panel discussion with Alda and Farrell, as well as a screening of the series finale.

Current Hollywood luminaries including Jon Stewart, Chelsea Handler and Patton Oswalt were in attendance.

They paid tribute to the groundbreaking series that helped define a generation.

"M*A*S*H was more than a television show," said Stewart. "It was a way of looking at the world."

"The series had a profound effect on me and my generation," added Handler.

Oswalt summed up the evening best when he said, "To paraphrase Hawkeye Pierce, tonight we laugh, tomorrow we may die.
